Strategic Plan for Success

After nearly fourteen months of preparation, with the guidance of two extraordinary consultants, June Garcia and Sandra Nelson, both recognized leaders within the Public Library Association, Mid‐Columbia Libraries embarks on an exciting, new course charted in this strategic plan for 2008 through 2012. The original plan was revised and extended from a three year plan to a five year plan.

This document not only embodies an incalculable amount of work, it also represents the tremendous amount of support our Library System received from our community, the Community Planning Committee, and of course, our phenomenal staff. To see such a level of commitment to quality libraries reinforces that the services our Library System provides are not only important, but are critical to the future of the Mid‐Columbia.

We invite you to read this plan. It is a path forward to a place where small children are ready to start kindergarten, teenagers have ready access to materials they want to read and watch, adults can get the newest books and explore personal interests, and where voters are engaged in the world around them. We're prepared and ready to roll up our sleeves and make this place a reality.
